NFIB Endorses Delegate Bill Janis for Re-election
On September 3, 2009 the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) announced that it’s members have endorsed Delegate Bill Janis for re-election to represent the 72,000+ residents of Louisa, Goochland and Henrico counties in the 56th House District. Delegate Janis is serving his fourth term in the House, and has represented the 56th District since November 2002.
Julia Ciarlo Hammond, Virginia Director of NFIB, noted that Del. Janis “scored a 100%” on the issues most important to the small, independent businesses that the NFIB represents, including fighting against legislation that would cause skyrocketing health insurance costs, increased government regulatory compliance costs, and higher taxes on small businesses. Bill also recently received the endorsement of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, which represents the issues and concerns of farmers, foresters and ranchers in Virginia.
Small businesses account for nearly 98 percent of Virginia’s employers and half of all private-sector jobs, according to figures from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Both the NFIB and VFBF endorsements indicate Bill’s recognition of, and commitment to tackling issues affecting small businesses, farmers and individuals within the 56th and throughout the Commonwealth.
“I am honored to once again receive the endorsement of the NFIB,” Janis said. “For the past eight years I have worked with NFIB and its members to resist myriad legislative proposals to expand the three great “job killers” of taxation, regulation and litigation. If re-elected, I will continue to work with partners such as NFIB to create a business and regulatory climate in the Commonwealth that attracts more small business creation, and promotes good paying jobs for Virginians.”
